Micromax Canvas 4 A210 doesn’t stand true to its hype
Micromax
is used to creating too much hype for its upcoming smartphones. We
Indians have all witnessed the hoopla related with the Micromax flagship
devices like the Canvas HD A116 and recently regarding the Micromax
Canvas 4 A210.
Upon close inspection
of the hardware specifications of the Canvas 4 A210 you’ll find that it
is not so inspiring and surprisingly similar to the previous flagship,
the Micromax Canvas HD A116.
Why am I calling it a vampire?
Just
like the vampires the Canvas 4 was received with a lot of hoo hah and
secondly it is capable of draining your pocket out of what keeps it
alive. Here I am relating money with blood.
It is already dead.
Micromax’s marketing department is shrewdly clever and stupid.
I’ve
been a huge fan of the Micromax’s marketing department. Their products
are launched with a lot of fanfare. They know that their products
wouldn’t bring earth shattering features to the local market but still
they promote their products like hell. As a result a lot of not so
technically sound people pre-book Micromax’s phones.
And that’s how Micromax manages to stay afloat in this competitive market. A thumbs up to Micromax for their astute.
We all know that “to err is human” but human beings are intelligent creatures and they do learn from their mistakes.
Let
us consider that someone falls prey to Micromax’s marketing trap and
without thinking twice he pre-books the product. After the actual
product launch if the person realizes that the product that he
pre-booked because of his deep faith in the manufacturer is an old
product marketed as brand new. What do you think that he will do?
Many
might cancel their orders and vouch not to ever buy any product from
that manufacturer. Some might even take up a cause to do unhealthy
talking about the device manufacturer.
This is the mistake that the Micromax’s marketing department is committing without even knowing about it. Are they out of their minds?
Why did they create so much hype?
The pre-order started on 28th
June without even revealing the hardware specifications. Everything
becomes clear now. Micromax’s R&D department (rather importing
dept.) couldn’t deliver anything new and innovative to the market that’s
why they’ve re-launched the good old Canvas HD with some additional
bells and whistles and re-branded it as canvas 4.
The Canvas 4’s tagline says, “Can life be Endless?”
No,
it can’t be because those raving Micromax fans who pre-booked canvas 4
have already ended their lives after finding out that the Canvas 4 is
not much different from the Canvas HD having its MOP (market open price)
close to 13000 INR.
Micromax didn’t answer our request to reveal a few more specifications before the actual launch.
The
reason that they didn’t reveal the complete hardware specifications
even when the pre-booking started is that they knew before it hand that
the Canvas 4 is bound to a certain failure.
They were also planning to keep their own fans in the dark by giving them an outdated product wrapped in a new box.
The Special Unlock Features are something genuinely new in Micromax Canvas 4
Micromax has vaguely tried to make this phone different from the already available Canvas HD A116 by including some cool new
unlocking features like shake to unlock and blow to unlock the phone.
The shake to unlock feature looks sensible and you can use it at any place without embarrassing yourself but the blow to unlock
functionality might make you look like a desperate fool. I can’t even
imagine what the developers at Micromax were thinking when they
conceived of introducing blow to unlock gesture.
PS: Use Blow to unlock at your own risk in public places.
Should you buy it?
Well,
if you are a die-hard fan of Micromax and probably want to burn your
hard-earned money on something cheap and outdated then you should get
this phone and think deeply about the true meaning of the tagline of the
Canvas 4.

Micromax Canvas 4 A210 is an upgraded version of the Micromax Canvas HD A116
It
becomes evident from the specifications sheet comparison above that the
Canvas 4 is an upgraded Canvas HD. In terms of hardware it brings a few
improvements like slightly better GPU, support for USB 3.0 and high
speed HSPA+ (42Mbps download and 11 Mbps uplink).
It
also comes with a very slim profile having the max thickness at 8.9mm.
We praise Micromax for taking it latest Canvas series smartphone on a
diet to lose some of the extra fats but only time will tell whether the
Canvas 4 has become truly efficient by lasting a full day on a single
recharge.
